Briggs, 61, Carl Junction, who died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he had been a patient since Sunday, will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Brenner Funeral Home chapel in Pittsburg, Kan. The Rev. David Wigger of Carl Junction will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Briggs was born on June 7, 1913, in Pittsburg and was a graduate of Courtney Business College in Pittsburg. He was with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in El Reno, Okla., for 25 years, retiring a few years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carl Junction, the Joplin Elks Club and the United Commercial Travelers in Pittsburg. He was married to Miss Mildred Byers on Feb. 23, 1934, in Nevada, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia L. Greenwood, London, England; a brother, Dr. Elsworth Briggs, Eureka, Calif., and two grandchildren.
