Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Saturday, August 3, 2002: Anna---Mrs. Helen L. Caraker, 78, of Lake Placid, Fla., and formerly of Anna, died at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home in Lake Placid. She was born Nov.28,1923, in Anna, the daughter of John and Mayme Williams Kirkpatrick. She married Curtis M. Caraker, April 14, 1943, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20,1995. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Betty Caraker of Anna; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Sadler of Jonesboro and Glenda and Larry Koeller of Winslow; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of square dance friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden, the Highlands Co. Florida Square Dancers, and a life member of the Anna VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired Dietary and Mental Health Technician at the Choate Center in Anna. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
