Mrs. La Vada Gertrude Penrod, 41, of 1156 West Fifth street, San Bernardino, died yesterday at her home. She was a native of Sparta, Ill., and had been in San Bernardino only one month, and in California five years. She is survived by her husband, Wesley Penrod of San Bernardino; two sons, John Gordon Penrod, serving in the U. S. Navy, and George Loren Penrod of San Bernardino; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Kirkpatrick of Anna, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Hoevenstein of Melvindale, Mich.; and five brothers, Wesley and John Kirkpatrick of Chicago, Ill., Neil and Royal E. Kirkpatrick of Anna, Ill., and Leon Kirkpatrick of Toledo, Ohio. She was a member of the Anna chapter of the O.E.S. of Herrin, Ill. Funeral services are pending with the Mark B. Shaw Co. in charge of arrangements.
