The Bonham Daily Favorite, Bonham, Texas, Monday, September 2, 1935, Page 4, Col. 5: Funeral Services for Dr. J. E. Nevill Held Sunday Afternoon. The funeral service for Dr. J. E. Nevill was conducted at the First Methodist Church at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. C. L. Bowen, assisted By Rev. S.R. Smith of the First Baptist church. Will H. Evans of Sherman paid a brief tribute to his friends as did Ashley Evans. The choir furnished appropriate music. An audience that filled the house to its capacity and then left several hundred on the outside was present. They came from every part of the county and from adjoining counties. One noticeable thing was that the space reserved for the colored friends was filled. Dr. Nevill had long been a friend to many of them, and they returned his friendship. There were many very beautiful offerings of flowers. Rev. Bowen's tribute to his friend and brother was sincere and beautiful. At the conclusion of the service the entire assembly filed past the casket to take a last look at the face of their dead friend.
