The Wenatchee World, Wenatchee, Washington, December 14, 1999: Lorena Mary Knight, 79, of Dryden and a 45-year resident of the Upper Wenatchee Valley, died Saturday morning, Dec. 11, 1999, in Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She was born Lorena Mary Schober on Aug. 10, 1920 to John and Alice (Overhaulser) Schober at Osage, MN, where she grew up and received her early education. On April 7, 1937, she married Custer C. Knight at Detroit Lakes, MN and in 1939 they moved to White Sands, MN. In 1942, they moved to Camas, where they lived until moving to Montana in 1943. In 1944, they moved to East Wenatchee and in 1948 to Sandpoint, ID. In 1954, they moved to Cashmere, where she was employed by the Cashmere Nursing Home. In 1962, they moved to Dryden, where she has since resided. In 1976, she was employed by the Cascade General Hospital in Leavenworth until her retirement in 1985. Lorena was a member of the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene and was very active and devoted in the support of her church and the Upper Valley Christian School. Her church activities included serving for Missionary; Silverbells; X.Y.Z. and Grandmothers Club. She was always a supplier of donuts, cinnamon rolls and cookies. She also volunteered at the Leavenworth Community Cupboard. Lorena loved doing crafts for her family, whether it was needlepoint; afghans or baby quilts. Her love and commitment for and to her family was always without question. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Butch Werner of Dryden and Naomi and Stan Jones of Ferndale; four sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and JoAnne Knight of Puyallup; Neil and Grace Knight of Yakima; Doyle and Sharon Knight of Deer Park and Colin and Paulette Knight of Stanwood; three brothers, Leon Schober of Palmer, AK, John Schober of St. Regis, MT and Raymond Schober of Wenatchee; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Custer in 1975; great-granddaughter, Cheri Grayson; daughter-in-law, Edie Knight; two sisters, Mabel Euell and Violet Smith and four brothers, Loyal Schober; Irwin Schober; Harry Schober and Chester Schober. A service of commemoration for Lorena Mary Knight, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, Dec. 17, 1999, in the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Warren officiating. Interment will be in the Peshastin Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday from 12 noon until 8 p.m. at the Ward's Funeral Chapel. Those who wish may make a memorial in her name to the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
