Leon Gurney Schober

Anchorage Daily News, March 26, 2003: Sutton resident Leon Gurney Schober, 85, died March 15, 2003, at Valley Hospital from injuries sustained in a rock slide. A memorial service was at Kehl's Palmer Mortuary, 209 S. Alaska St., with the Rev. Terry Wells officiating. Burial followed at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery with Lloyd Kelley, Bill Stephenson, Clem Nighswonger, Dan Lundell, Aaron Healy and David Block as pallbearers. Mr. Schober was born March 30, 1917, in Park Rapids, Minn. He came to Alaska in May 1992. His hobbies included bowling, hunting, operating a sawmill and building. His family wrote, "He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched." He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sharon Schober of Sutton and Ron Schober of Minnesota; daughter, Patricia Moyer of Osage, Minn.; brothers, Ray Schober of Wenatchee Wash., and John Schober of St. Regis, Mont.; grandchildren, Seth and Kelsey Schober of Sutton, and Jodi and Ryan Schober, Tyler, Tanner and Trevor Schober, and Randy, Gary and Allen Moyer; great-grandchildren, Kaela, Karie and Rhiannon; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sutton Fire Station, P.O. Box 267, Sutton, AK 99674. Arrangements were by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary. [transcribed at Find-A-Grave.com.]
