The Southern Illinoisan, Sunday, July 9, 1972: Irmel Swisher, 76, Rt. 1, Mulkeytown died Friday night at Franklin Hospital, Benton. Born in Mulkeytown Nov. 9, 1895, she was the daughter of George and Dora Moyers Kirkpatrick. Mrs. Swisher was a member of the Greenwood Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband Orval; a daughter, Ruth Davis, Royalton; two sons; Ray Swisher, Kirkwood, Mo.; and Rolla Swisher, Santee, Calif.; five sisters. Lou Gregory, Mulkeytown; Marie Parkinson, Sesser; Ruby Whitlow and Claudney Stevens, both of Glendale, Ariz.; and Beulah Fishel, Yellville, Ark; and two brothers, Edward Kirkpatrick and Marion Kirkpatrick, both of Glendale, Ariz; She had six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements directed by Gilbert Funeral Home are incomplete.

The Southern Illinoisan, Monday, July 10, 1972: Funeral services for Irmel Swisher, 76, Rt. 1, Mulkeytown will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher. The Rev, Everett Gott will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery three miles north of Mulkeytown. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Swisher died Friday night at Franklin Hospital, following a brief illness.
