The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, Monday, November 19, 2012: Charlotte---Sara C. Baker, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Sharon Towers. Mrs. Baker was 91 years old. She was born on August 20, 1921, in Chester County, SC, the daughter of the late Charles Samuel Caskey and Louise Kirkpatrick Caskey. She was the wife of the late Harry Boyd Baker. Mrs. Baker is survived by her sisters Margaret Caskey Beckham of Indian Trail, NC, and Carolyn Caskey Mahaffey of Charlotte, NC. She was pre-deceased by siblings Charles Caskey Jr., Kathryn Caskey Mosteller and Betty Caskey Adams. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with extended family and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A native of Lancaster, SC, Sara moved to Charlotte in 1944. She is a graduate of Lancaster High School in South Carolina and Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Baker joined Chevrolet Motor Division on January 21, 1948, and worked there until she retired in 1980. She was also an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. A service to celebrate the life of Sara C. Baker will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at McEwen Funeral Service on 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McEwen Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Mausoleum.
