Posted at findagrave.com: Mr. Baker, age 98, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Sharon Towers. Mr. Baker is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sara Caskey Baker. He is also survived by two brothers, William W. Baker of Heath Springs, SC and James Baker of Memphis, TN, and a sister, Esther Baker Key of Tucson, AZ. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his extended family and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Baker was born June 29, 1912, in Lancaster County, SC, son of the late George W. and Lucy Morris Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John R. Baker, George A. Baker, Wade H. Baker, Woodrow Baker, and Jay Morris Baker, and a sister, Florence Baker Brannen.During his working career, Mr. Baker was a home builder, winning many awards for Parade of Homes in Charlotte. He also was past president of the Southern Fasteners and Parts, Southern Industrial Distributors, and NuWay Air. He was a longtime member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, the Young at Hearts, Temple Lodge No. 676, A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies and Oasis Temples of The Shrine. A special thanks to the staff and nurses of Sharon Towers for the quality of care given. A service to celebrate the life of Harry Boyd Baker will he held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, Charlotte, NC, conducted by Rev. Glenn Gunter. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 5037 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28206.
