Notes
Death
Pueblo Chieftain 10 December 2014Margaret Laura Stanifer passed softly in the night, departing her wearied body to rest at long last.
Margaret personified grace. Her elegance was apparent in her warm embrace, her encouraging words and her kind generosity. She clad herself not with rich attire, but an abiding love and respect for all who knew her. Margaret was the first and best love of her six sons, in whom she instilled the virtues of integrity, honesty and compassion. Her gentleness of spirit adorned her home, family and the community of her church. She was a woman of great faith, who recognized the Creator in the singing of a babbling brook or the crimson sunset. Her soft voice soothed her crying babes and expressed the wisdom of a sage. Margaret’s life was marred by tragedy, from losing her mother, Madeline, at age 12, to mourning the death of her beloved husband, Glenn, and three sons, Richard, Jack and David. Despite life’s adversity, Margaret laughed easily and often — her glistening brown eyes, shy shimmering pools, captured the hearts of all. Though time took its toll on her body and she retreated into the mist, she never stopped loving her family and friends. She never lost her graciousness and beauty. We, her family and friends, will ever be indebted to this great soul, who inspired and touched all our hearts. We will miss you. Margaret leaves three sons, Gary (Kathy), Patrick (Brenda) and Michael; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Stanifer family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the exceptional, caring staff of the Pavilion at the Villa. Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today, at George McCarthy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at First United Methodist, 11th and Court in Pueblo. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
