Necessary Explanations (cont.) recorded several years after the events so it is possible the sealing did occur on 12 Jan 1846 when Mary was in the temple rather than elsewhere in 1848. The 1862 date is used in lieu thereof.
Mary Ann Brown received her endowment in the Nauvoo Temple on 12 Jan 1846 under the name "Mary Pulsipher". Her birth date is stated by her only when the record of washing and anointing was made. Her name only was stated when the "veil record" was made.
Zerah Pulsipher gives his birth date as 24 Jun 1789 while at Nauvoo and in his autobiography, but the vital records of Rockingham give it as 24 June 1788.
The claim Iona Almir received her endowment on 17 Oct 1852 is in error. She was sealed as a plural wife on that date by Brigham YOung to James Pettit in Pres. Young's office, it being a Sunday.
Mary Ann, child No. 8, was baptized in Nauvoo in the Spring of 1842, and even though th original record of baptism is not extant later ward records give names of the baptizer and confirmer which justifies the use of this baptism date. She was also rebaptized on 22 Nov 1877. Her husband used the middle name "Sirls", however it is taken from his parernl grandmother's surname of "Searles".
William, child No. 9, was 12 in the 1850 (1851) Utah census which supports his statement that he was born in 1838 rather than 1836 as stated by his mother when she was 72 years old.
William, child No. 9, according to family records was baptized in 1846, however since no official record has been located, the 18 Oct 1955 baptism performed by proxy for him ( using an 1840 birth date) is used. His endowments and sealings were teerefore reconfirmed and ratified on 10 Mar 1969.
!Mormon Pioneer, All who entered before the railroad were called Mormon Pioneers. All born in Utah before the railroad were called Utah Pioneers.

Hundreds of Saints were awaiting their turn to participate in the ordinance. In May 1842, Joseph had introduced a small group to the endowment. They started with those of the Twelve who had not received it under Joseph's hand, their wives, and a few of the other General Authorities. The work began at 3pm on the afternoon of 10 Dec 1845 in the Nauvoo Temple.
