Ray qualified as sharpshooter on 8/13/18 and was in no battles. He served as clerk, chauffeur and mechanic. He was not married. Military Funeral for Ray AlbrightFuneral services for Ray W. Albright, 47, World war veteran, who died Saturday morning in his home, 222 West Boone street, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Atkins-Johnson funeral home. The Rev. James E. Walker will officiate and burial will be in Belvidere cemetery. The rites will be in charge of Boone post N. 77, American Legion, of which he was a member.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Albright, he was born here Nov 13, 1895, and lived here all his life with the exception of a short time spent in Chicago where he was employed by the Pullman Standard Manufacturing company. He was married to Miss Alva Mae Gould in Austin Tex., June 25, 1919. He was a member of Co. M. "Belvidere's Own" national guard outfit and enlisted in the army Sept 10, 1917, serving until April 28, 1920, when he was discharged. He was in the motor transport corps and attained the rank of serveant first class. Mr. Albright was a member of the Presbyterian church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Donald, at West Point; and Ray, Jr. at home; and a daughter, Margorie of Rockford. He also leaves a brother, Clifford of this city; and a half-sister, Mrs. Hazel Stray, of Roscoe. The son, Donald, arrived here Sunday. Friend may call at the funeral home at any time.
