Elizabeth played the piano and when company would visit the family both Elizabeth and her sister, Virginia, would be obligated to play for the company. When Aunt Elizabeth would relate these stories to me she would be laughing at this old fashion custom and what an ordeal it was for the two of them. They would do their best to disappear before being summoned to this chore.Census
her dad, Edward H. Myers age 34 had been married 9 years. He was an English teacher at the High school. Virginia M, his wife age 33 has had 2 children and both are alive. Elizabeth G. the first born daughter is age 7, born Pennsylvania, Lorraine V. age 3 also born in Pennsylvania.Occupation
Aunt Elizabeth was a special person in my life. I was named after her, my mom said, and we always had a special relationship. Her home was in Marietta, Pennsylvania where she worked as a dietitian in the local school cafeteria. I remember her always with a smile and joy in her voice.Death
I visited Aunt Elizabeth times for the years before her death in Centre Crest Nursing Home, when I came from Albuquerque. This is a county home. Uncle Loy, her husbnd,was also there for years before his death. Cause of death was pneumona with congestive heart failure, and coronary heart disease.Burial
Elizabeth M Whitekettle 84 of 502 E Howard, Bellefonte died at Centre Community Hospital Thursday March 19, 1987 at 1:40 am.She was born July 26, 1902 in Boalsburg the daughter of the late Edward Heintzleman Myers and Mary Myers Myers. She married Loy Andrew Whitekettle who died December 29, 1975.
She was a graduate of Cedar Crest College, Allentown and was employed by Marietta school district as a dietitian until her retirement in 1960.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg. Mrs Whitekettle is survived by a niece Elizabeth Louise Albright of Albuquerque, NM and a nephew Richard Myers Goheen of Los Lunas, NM
Grave side services will be held at Boalsburg Cemetery Monday at 11 am with William H Rader officiating.
