WILFORD LEBARON COREY

Wilford farmed in Havelock NB. The New Canaan census for 1861 shows the William T. Corey family with a son Wilford, aged 4, and a son Labaron, aged 4. They were given their own opposites as middle names - Wilford Lebaron and Lebaron Wilford. The Havelock 1901 census shows Wilford married to Catherine, his date of birth given as 3 Nov 1853. Lebaron is married to Sybil, his date of birth given as 23 Nov 1853. Despite the discrepancy in the day of birth in 1901, we are clearly talking about a set of twins here. To increase the confusion for us, Wilford called himself by both names. Thus within a few houses of each other in Havelock there was a Wilford Lebaron, and a Lebaron.
He lived most of his life at Havelock where he operated successfully a large farm. He was Deacon for many years at Havelock Baptist Church. Three years before his death, he removed to Petitcodiac, where he died at the age of 84. At the time of his golden wedding anniversary in 1932, he gave his birth date as 23 Nov 1856.
His obituary reads, "For many years Mr. Corey was engaged in farming and conducted a grist mill at Havelock. He took up residence at Petitcodiac a few years ago. Since his youth he had been as active member of the Baptist Church. He was one of a family of 11 children." [Corey Book]
