BURTON, Texas -Alma Sensat went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 30, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Texas, after a short illness. She was born on Nov. 20, 1912, in Ridge to Hines and Zora Smith. She married Walter Sensat then resided in Seadrift, Texas, for 42 years. They moved back to Louisiana for seven years. After her husband’s death, she returned to Texas to live in Burton, where she resided for the last seven years. She is survived by three daughters, Wilma Fontenot and her husband, Lloyd, of Welsh, Shirley Sensat of Brenham and Judy Myers and her husband, Lonnie, of Burton; three sons, Huiet Cormier and his wife, Barbara, of Sulphur, Herbert Cormier and his wife, Darlene, of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Walter L. Sensat and his wife, Linda, of Brenham; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jennings Smith of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sensat; one son, Matthew Cormier; three sisters, Bebe Hoffpauir, Helen Herrington and Hazel Morgan; and three brothers, Wilson, Kelly and Wade Smith. She was a homemaker and loved cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Burton Baptist Church. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, in Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. The Rev. Walter L. Sensat of Brenham will officiate. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. Tuesday.
