Ida Elizabeth Stover

BIOGRAPHY: Her given name was Elizabeth Ida; but as did her mother an d her son, General Eisenhower, she effected a transposition of her na me to Ida Elizabeth. After her parents' death, she lived with her gr andfather, William Link until his death in 1879. Then she lived wit h other relatives until she was twenty-on e when she received a smal l inheritance, which permitted her to go to Kansas in June 1883, wher e her brothers, William and Jacob, had already settled. Unlike her hu sband David, Ida was known to be bright, witty, popular, vivacious an d o utgoing. Her greatest passion was music. She enrolled at Lane Un iversity in t he autumn of 1883 where she studied music and liberal ar ts.
