Obituary: Owen County Democrat: April 22, 1915. Cyrus Oliver Gaston , son of Ha rris and Margaret Jane Gaston, was born June 30, 1866, an d died April 16, 1915, age 49 years 9 months and 15 days. He was th e youngest of a family of nine ch ildren, four of whom survive, A. E . Gaston and Mary Easton of this county, Mrs. Sarah E. Richards of Ok lahoma, and Mrs. Susan G. Christenberry of Findlay, Ill . He was unit ed in marriage to Ollie L. Parrish October 19, 1890. To this unio n we re born ten children. He is survived by a wife and eight children, fiv e boy s and three girls. He acquired a common school education, the n turned his atte ntion to farming and saw milling. He was an industri ous and hard working man un assuming and not caring for any honors o f man, but tried in his business transa ctions to have the good will o f all. He served as trustee of Montgomery Townshi p for six years wit h honor, closing his term Jan. 1, 1915. He never made any c onfessio n until April 1, 1915, when he confessed his Savior and was baptized i n to Christ and said to friends he regretted he had not done so earlie r in life a s the best part of his life was spent in unusefulness. H e was a member of I.O.O .F. and Spencer Encampment. He took a deep int erest in the education of his chi ldren, in which he was successful . After an illness which lasted almost one ye ar he died of pulmonar y tuberculosis surround by his friends and family. A larg e crowd asse mbled at the home Sunday, April 18, to show their respect to the de ce ased and their sympathy for the family and listened to the words of co mfort s poken by Elder H. C. Hinton after which the remains were take n to the New Hope cemetery and gently lowered in the grave by Brothe r of the order to which he be longed, there to rest and return to th e earth from whence man came.
