Nickname:<NICK> Harve BIOGRAPHY: According to "The Query's in Amer ica", Melba Haltom wrote: "He was both a farmer and carpenter who help ed build the Quincy S chool building. He and Julia lived in Jackson T ownship when they first married , then moved to Quincy where he operat ed the livery stable just north of the ra ilroad and lived in the firs t house west of the Masonic Hall. He traded the li very stable to Ot t Raikes for an 80 acre farm in the Millgrove neighborhood abo ut 1901 . In addition to his farming duties, he ran rig, a shredding rig an d di d custom baling with a stationary outfit. Obituary: Daniel Harve y Huber - Th e Master said, "Come" and on the early morning of July 27 , 1950, Daniel Harvey Huber suddenly answered the call at his home i n Spencer, being 80 years, 3 mont hs and 26 days of age, having been b orn March 31, 1870. He was born in Owen Co unty near Jordan Village a nd was the oldest child of a family of nine children and the oldest so n of William and Julia Ann (Query) Huber. On January 15th, 18 90 he wa s united in marriage to Eliza Jane Fraizer, who preceded him in deat h O ctober 14th, 1944. He was preceded in death by father, mother, tw o brothers, J ohn and Willie and one sister, Rose. To this union, 4 c hildren were born, one of whom, Leslie T died at the age of 2 1/2 year s, and the other three children being Alva C, Mary Mae Cassel and In a A. Evans, all living near Quincy. In 191 0 he united with the Millg rove Methodist Church and during the intervening year s he fulfilled h is church duties to the best of his ability. His life business was f arming with the exception of serving one term as trustee of Taylor Tow nsh ip, being elected to this in 1908. On March 2, 1946 he was unite d in marriage to Lucy Moore of Spencer, and they lived on his farm i n the Millgrove Community until his health (failed) and on May 2, 195 0 they moved to Spencer. He leaves to mourn his passing, Lucy, his f aithful wife, three children, Alva, Mae and I na; two step-daughters , Mrs. Jane Coffey of Freedom and Mrs. Bertha Hunter of B loomington ; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie o f Q uincy and Bert of Indianapolis; three sisters, Alice Davis of Quin cy, Hattie Sm ith of Yellville, Arkansas, and Clara Mugg of Green cast le and a host of other relatives and friends. Harve, as he was called , was a good neighbor, kind and loving husband and father and will b e greatly missed by all, and to those left behind, with the words of t he poem: "We cannot say and we will not say That fat her is dead, he i s just away, with a cherry smile and wave of his hand He has w andere d into an unknown land And Left is dreaming how very fair It needs mus t b e since he lingers there, And you, Oh you, who the wiliest yearns , For the old time step and glad return Think of him as faring on, a s dear In the love of the re as the love of here; Think of him still a s the same, we say. He is not dead , he is just away."
