Rachel's tombstone in the cemetery reads as follows: "In Vain we seek for rest below, where it's not to be found, Rest is a plant that will not grow in earthly ground."

Mrs. A.B. Horn and Mrs. R.L. Wheelock visited John Hunt's home in June, 1944 and viewed a bed spread owned by Sam Hunt that was made by his Great Grandmother Rachel Ayres before she came to Mississippi in 1840.
TOMBSTONES REBUILT
According to Marguerite White Garrison, a direct descendent of Moses and Rachel McFadden Ayres, she and other direct descendents had the old tombstones of Rachel McFadden Ayres, Eli Snow and his wife Sarah Ayres Snow, rebuilt in 1994. Their tombstones are found in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, Mississippi.
