Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon for Anthony W. Beuning who died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at his home in Avon. Rev. Blaine Wasnie, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday (TODAY) at the church and also one hour before services on Monday. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Arrangements are by Williams Funeral Home, Avon.
Anthony was born November 27, 1923 in Krain township to the late Herman and Rose (Thell) Beuning. He served in WWII under General Patton and was commissioned in Special Forces. He was wounded and awarded a purple heart and taken prisoner. He escaped Duchene in 1945. On April 8, 1947 he married Alvina Roerick at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Freeport, MN. Anthony owned and operated a sawmill business, was a lumber grader and taught students lumber grading. Anthony and Alvina planted over 100,000 young trees on their farm. Anthony also was a Volunteer at the VA Medical Center for 750+ hours. Anthony was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Marcella (Robert) Irby of Faribault, Evelyn Budde (Gary McPadden) of Avon, Herbert (Laurie) Beuning of Avon, and LeRoy (Kathy) Beuning of Avon; grandchildren, Jenny, Debbie, Sara, Trisha, Scott, Brad, Matt, Andy, Adam, Jordan, Mike, Amy and John; five great grandchildren; special friend, Jane Kurtti; and sisters, Lorraine (Elmer) Hammond, Theresa Roerick, Bernadine (Leo) Ettle, Irene Lund, and Mary Jane (Arnie) Blommel.
Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Alvina of 57 years on June 25, 2004; brothers, Victor, Norbert and Walter, and sister, Dorothy Wald.
