Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Lake Henry for Anton 'Tony' Wuertz, 84, who died Sunday at Paynesville Area Hospital.Burial will be in the Church of Our Lady parish cemetery, Mannanah.Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. St. Margaret's Rosary Society will pray at 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home followed by the St. Joseph's Men's Society at 7:30 and parish prayers at 8.
Anton 'Tony' Wuertz was born in Lake Henry Township to Joseph and Mary (Kortenbusch) Wuertz. He lived in the Lake Henry area all of his life. He married Kathleen Garvey on Oct. 27, 1943 in Church of Our Lady Catholic Church in Mannanah. He worked for the Lake Henry Telephone Co. and later as a mechanic in the Paynesville area. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Lake Henry Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Men's Society, St. Margaret's Rosary Society and St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry.
Survivors include his wife; sons, James and Michael of Mannanah; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers Alma Wenker and Hilda Bertram of Greenwald, Rose Chladek of Modesto, Calif., Isabelle Spanier of Albany, Adella Spanier of Farming, Margaret Hagemeier of Farming, Helen Garding of Minneapolis, Roman of Laurel, Mont., and Wilbert of Cold Spring.He was preceded in death by brothers Ralph and Norbert.
