Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Sarah Elizabeth Fuchs, age 90, of Lake Henry. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, January 4, at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church in Lake Henry. St. Margaret's Rosary Society will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by St. Anne's Christian Women at 6 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 8 p.m.
Arrangements were made by the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
Sarah died at her home from cancer on New Year's Day.
Sarah (Winter) Fuchs was born in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, to Frank and Mary (Schoenborn) Winter on August 4, 1911. She married Alphonse "Al" Fuchs on October 15, 1929 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. They farmed near Spring Hill and later Lake Henry, retiring in 1965. They moved to the town of Lake Henry, their house being the first house built on 2nd Street. She also enjoyed bartending when they ran the bar (Al's Place) in Lake Henry from December 1954 to 1959. She also worked as a bartender for Marvin and Mary Kunstleben and later for Bill and Joanne Braun.
Survivors include her four daughters, Dorothy Hess of Lake Henry, twin sisters Bernie Roeser and Gerrie Dahl, both of Paynesville, and Irene (James) Jaeger of Lake Henry; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, Ervin (Ledvina) Winter of Spring Hill; sisters, Otillia Jonas of Pine Villa Nursing Home, Melrose, Leona Meemken of Bemidji and Johanna Schefers of St. Cloud.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Alphonse ( August 24, 1908-March 1, 1968); brothers, Henry, Lawrence, Edward, Alfred, Art and Richard; sisters, Sophia, Theckla Jonas, Erma Kunstleben; and sons-in-law Elmer Dahl, Gerald Roeser, Ray Hess; and five grandchildren.
