A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Celestine P. Stroeing, age 69, of Bowlus, formerly of St. Joseph, who died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m., and the Eagle's Aerie #622 will pray at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Celestine (Cel) Stroeing was born on December 13, 1935 in Melrose, MN to Frank and Anna (Buettner) Stroeing. He married Shirley Buersken on July 18, 1966. They lived in St. Cloud until 1986 when they moved to Waverly, NE. Cel and Shirley returned to Minnesota in 1994, living in St. Stephen and later St. Joseph. In 2002 Celestine moved to Bowlus, MN. He was employed as a truck driver and worked for 26 years as a carman/welder for Burlington Northern until his retirement in 1992. Cel was a member of NARVRE (National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees) and the Eagles Aerie #622.
Cel is survived by his children Sheryl Czech of Bowlus, Linda Ketola of Pine City, James Honer of St. Stephen, Mark Honer of Waite Park, and Sandy Rosenberger and Ruth Ostendorf of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers Vernon and Sylvester of Freeport, Wilfred of St. Cloud and Marvin of New Munich; sisters Leora Honer of St. Joseph, Evelyn Voller of Melrose, Mary Ellen Rosen of Freeport and Rita Stang of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents and a sister, Dorothy Stroeing.
