Services will be 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pierz, for Lydia A. Flicker, 79, formerly of Rochester, who died Friday at St. Gabriel's Hospital, Little Falls. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel, Pierz. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel followed by Christian Mothers Women's rosary at 5:30.
Lydia Flicker was born in Lastrup to Henry and Pauline (Ortman) Welle. After completing her schooling, she returned to the family farm and helped her parents. She married Jerome Flicker on May 20, 1944, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Lastrup. The couple moved to various U.S. Army posts during World War II, living in Hattiesburg, Miss., Little Rock, Ark., Gainesville, Texas, and San Luis Obispo, Calif. The couple moved back to Pierz after the war, where they resided from 1945 to 1950. The couple then moved to St. Cloud in 1950 and to Rochester in 1953. The couple moved to Little Falls in 1996, where she resided until her death. They also wintered in Boynton Beach, Fla., from 1983 to 1991. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Little Falls, MN.
Survivors include her husband; children, Kevin of Morris, Cheryl Klum of Minneapolis, and Paula Fisher of Phoenix; brothers, Harold and Henry of Lastrup; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Allen; and brothers and sisters, Victor, Norbert, Ambrose, Herman, Hilda Ethan, Olivia Faust, Betty DeFeo, Sister Carletta and Marie Eckman. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer's Foundation or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
