Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stephan-Stein Funeral Home, Long Prairie, for Ambrose W. Frericks, 78, who died Sunday at Long Prairie Memorial Hospital, Long Prairie. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Freeport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home in Long Prairie.
Ambrose Frericks was born in Freeport to Herman and Walburga (Beste) Frericks. He married Juletta Eickhoff on Oct. 29, 1946, and they later divorced. He farmed in the Melrose area in Grove Township and retired in 1982. He wintered in Arizona and lived in Burtrum. He was a school board member in rural Melrose for many years.
Survivors include his daughter and sons, Arlene Bowman, LeRoy and Joseph of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters, Elmer of Melrose, Esther Hinnenkamp and Raymond of Sauk Centre, Roman of Mount Iron, Ervin of Fridley, Florence Austing of Willmar, Alma Schulte of Freeport and Louise Haskamp of Blaine; and 13 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his long-time companion, Helen Weick of Burtrum.
He was preceded in death by his son Anthony; an infant daughter; and sister and brother, Marie Zwilling and Jerome.
