Mary Steele

Mary's first husband, James Alexander, died in 1717 when he was only thirty-two. Mary was married to her second husband, Adam Rankin, in 1721. It was Adam and Mary that moved the family from Maryland to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They were later known to be living in York County, Pennsylvania with other closely related families (other Alexanders, Craig, McGinley, Laird and Gilliland).York County was formed out of Lancaster County so there might not have been a relocation.
