There are different dates given within genealogy sources for David's birth date. September 3, 1818, appears in numerous places; however, his birth date is cited as September 30, 1813, in other sources. The later is believed to be correct since it appears in Baskin's - History of Logan Co., Ohio - published in 1880. David also reported on the 1880 Census taken on June the first that he was sixty-six years old. David and Catherine were "German Baptists" according to the Funk book by Fretz.
