According to Christian, he migrated with his parents from Rockingham Co., VA to Logan Co., OH when he was about seventeen (1832). After several years, he moved on to Fairfield Co, OH, where he married Elizabeth. He and Elizabeth united with the Mennonite Church, and in 1846 he was called to the ministry that he served for over thirty-six years. In 1852, Christian moved his family to Allen, Co., OH, where he resided until his death.
