John Culp was listed on the tax list for Rockingham Co. VA, in 1787 (age 25 at least). John and his brother Henry were listed in the Rockingham County Minutes Book (part 2, 1786 - 1788, page 682) on 22 Jan 1787 along with David Branan as indebted to the Govenor of Virginia (20lbs. - John ; 10 lbs. - Henry). He was listed on the 1788 tax listl with two horses, but not included on future tax lists. It is possible that John moved across the county line into Augusta County, as there was a John Culp in the Augusta County Court Extracts 1745 - 1800. This John was listed under "Insolvents and Delinquents". John did sell Rockingham Co., VA land to David Bush in June 1799.
