An article in the Elkhart County, IN newspaper dated 8 Sep 1909 states: "Michael Culp, who was born in Pennsylvania in 1755....He was a friend of General George Washington and an engineer, being engaged in building forts during the Revolutionary War".
Page 416 of an article titled, "Youngstown and The Mahoning Valley" states that in 1804 Michael Culp (son of Phillip) went to Fayette Co., PA and from there to Beaver, PA in 1815 (then Bever Township), to East Lewistown, Mahoning Co., OH".
He is listed in 1779, 1780, 1781, 1782 and 1783 tax records in York Co., PA.
He is in the tax records for 1784 & 1787 in Rockingham Co., VA (1784 - 3 whites and 1 dwelling).
He is in the 1787 VA Census with five horses and two cattle.
He is in the 1788 tax list with four horses, five in 1798, two in 1800, and four in 1801.

He bought land on 21 Mar 1803 in German Township, Fayette Co., PA, He was living on this land by 1804 and still there for the 1810 census. He was living in Columbia Co., PA for the 1815 census and resided in Springfield Township, Columbiana Co., OH from 1820 until his death in 1828.
Michael and Magdalena are both buried at Midway Mennonite Church in Mahoning County, Ohio.
