The dedication of the shelter house was held inside the shelter house and was well attended.Several family members were in attendance.
Hersch's son and granddaughter helped Hersch to get on and off the stage and stood with him while he was honored.
Note: This shelter house was torn down sometime around 2015. The town claimed they had saved the sign with Hersch's name on it, but we don't know where it is located now.
Illness
-- ID0003 called ID1888 and told her that Hersch had fallen and Sis was following the ambulance and they were taking him to the hospital. - They feared he might have fractured his hip. 17 July 2008 - 12 noon-- ID0003 called 23 Sep 2008, 945am - said they were taking Hersch to the ER at Ball Hospital - because the nursing home said he was "Non-responsive"
