My Dad passed away this morning around 8 am. He was warm and comfortable. Mom had just arrived there this morning after a late night last night. family were with him until almost midnight last night.) The nurse called me this morning and I went up and got mom and brought her home. Jim and I went back for her car after church. (Those of you not aware, Dad had been acutely ill since Thanksgiving from his gallbladder, but too chronically ill to overcome the illness. He was on Hospice services for 8 days.)
There will be no immediate funeral arrangements. He will be cremated and a memorial service for family and close friends is being planned for his birthday, 4/28/06. This will avoid the holidays and bad weather, since everyone lives so far away.
Preferred memorials: Dad was very close to , his youngest granddaughter, and wanted her to remember him. Contributions to her college fund by way of savings bond in his memory would, I am sure, have made him very proud. Alternatively, donations in his honor to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, 265 W Water St, Berne, IN 46711 would also be appreciated, as they did a lovely job of taking care of him at the end.
Mom and the family are doing ok. Again, we appreciate all the love and prayers you gave and continue to give.
