John Connable was born in 1749 probably in Bernardston. He was a soldier in the American Revolution. He married Amey Edwards then Sarah Dewey and had several children. His will names his children and makes son Joseph executor. John is buried in the Old Cemetery of Bernardston his headstone inscribed with 'Death is a sweet sonorous sound To those who have salvation found, It wafts them to the courts of bliss, Where all is joy and happiness'.
