George Lincoln ALSHOUSE

One record indicates George Lincoln had twelve children but as of this date only eleven can be documented. The family is in the Walnut, Bureau County, Illinois census' of 1900 (Dwelling 221), 1910 (Dwelling 62), and 1920 (Dwelling 24).
George retired from his farm in December 1925. Lived in Dixon, Lee County, Illinois at 409 College Avenue (where his sons Arthur and Bert died). He then lived at 1010 Chestnut Avenue where he observed 50th wedding anniversary in 1941. He later lived at 515 Van Buren where he died.

The funeral of the late George Alshouse was held from the residence, 515 Van Buren avenue, this city, at 2 o'clock and from the Christian church at Walnut at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Services were conducted by the Rev. F.W. Tyler, pastor of the Congregational church, assisted by the Rev. Martin of the Christian church, followed by interment in the Walnut cemetery. The floral tributes were many and very beautiful. Those who attended from a distance were: Frank Alshouse, St. Paul. Minn.; Mrs. Emma Alshouse and daughter, LaMoille; Watson Alshouse, Sterling; Mrs. Beulah Howard, Sterling; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ebersole, Sterling; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Anson, Dover, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nieman, Princeton; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruse, Walnut: Hugo Kasten, Mrs. Charles Lauritzen, Mrs. Lola Stone, all of Walnut; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hasbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hasbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hasbrook, Miss Marjory Baela, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones, all of Sheffield; Mrs. Pansy Biesecker, Franklin Grove; Harold Fordham, Rock Falls; Mrs. Ida Newhausen and son Walter, Mrs. Pauline Alshouse and daughters, Amboy."

George L. Alshouse son of Samuel and Mary Alshouse, was born on Dec. 21st 1867 on a farm near Heaturis Point, Bureau County, IL. and passed away after a short illness at his home in Dixon. IL. on Thursday, April 20, 1944, aged 76 years 4 months and 1 day.
He was united in marriage to Josephine Freeman on March 10. 1891. To
this union 11 children were born, two preceeding him in death, Arthur in 1926 and Bert in 1928. He is survived by his widow, 6 daughters, Mrs. Junie Fordham, Mrs. Alice O'Brien, Mrs. Hazel Judge, Mrs. Bernie Hasbrook, Mrs. Mable Stetson, Mrs. Florence Fane, and three sons, Glenn, Howard, and George Jr.; one sister Mrs. Carrie Kruse, 3 brothers John in Calif.. Verdin of Hazelton, Iowa, Frank of St. Paul. Minn, and a half brother Watson of Sterling; 28 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He retired from his farm in Dec., 1925, and spent the remainder of his life in Dixon.
