She and Virden lived in an upstairs apartment in 800 block of Nachusa Avenue. After she was widowed she lived with daughter Vernie Hasbrook in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois and then with daughter Florence Fane at 1119 Chestnut Avenue in Dixon, Lee County, Illinois.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Dixon, Lee County, Illinois.

Mrs. Josephine Alshouse, 87,1119 Chestnut Ave., died in KSB Hospital Friday at 4:30 p.m. after a short illness. She is survived by 117 direct descendants.
The survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Junie Fordham, Mrs. Hazel Judge, Mrs. Mabel Wolfe and Mrs. Florence Fane, all of Dixon: Mrs. Vernie Hasbrook, Princeton, and Mrs. Alice DeHart, Los Angeles, a son, George, Garden Grove, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; 77 Great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Lola Stone, Walnut, also survives.
Mrs. Alshouse was born in Walnut July 25, 1972 [1872]. She had lived in Dixon for 33 years. Her husband, George, preceded her in death April 20, 1944.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:20 p.m. in Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Maurice Byers of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home after 7 p.m. today."

Mrs. Josephine Alshouse, 87, of 1119 Chestnut Ave., Dixon, Illinois, passed away at K.S.B. hospital in Dixon on Friday, November 6, following a short illness. There are 117 direct descendants surviving.
She leaves six daughters, Mrs. Junie Fordham, Mrs. Hazel Judge, Mrs. Mabel Wolfe and Mrs. Florence Fane, all of Dixon: Mrs. Vernie Hasbrook, Princeton, and Mrs. Alice DeHart, Los Angeles, a son, George, Garden Grove, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; 77 Great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Alshouse was born in Walnut, July 25, 1872 the daughter of Charles and Nancy Brewer Freeman. Her husband, George, preceded her in death April 20, 1944. Four sons also passed in young manhood.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon with Rev. Maurice Byers of the Dixon Christian church officiating. Interment was made in the Walnut cemetery, where Rev. E.V. Hallock, pastor of the Walnut Christian church conducted the graveside rites.
Six grandsons acted as pall bearers."
