For World War II, he enlisted into the Army on 13 July 1942. At that time he and his family were living at 914 1st Avenue South, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota. He was inducted at Fort Snelling in Minnesota on 26 July 1942. He was discharged honorably as a TEC 5 on 12 October 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He served with Battery B, 463 Anti-Aircraft Battery Auto Weapons in Normandy Day + 2, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and went as far as river Elbe and met the Russians. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Duropean-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, three Overseas Service Bars, no days lost under AW107, and ASR Score 99.
In 1962 (at the time of his mothers death) he lived at 3005 8th Street North, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota.
