Payne, Mrs. (28 AUG 1832 - 19 DEC 1914)
The home of R. S. Payne and family, east of town (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), was saddened Saturday last by the death of his aged mother. She was in her 82nd year. For some time both Mr. Payne's mother and his wife's mother have made their homes with the family, and the two old grandmas, each having passed the allotment of three score years and ten, were congenial company for one another and for the other members of the family. The funeral services were held at the home on Monday morning, and the remains were taken to Soldiers Grove for burial. There will be a vacant chair in this home this Christmastide. Oh, those death mothers, Heaven surely most be beautiful when we think of such as have gone before us."
