Individual Details

Esther SNOW

(16 Sep 1779 - 28 Oct 1855)

Because of the early age of marriage, her birth date and marriage date has always been contentious or confusing until the certifications were inserted into the Revolutionary War Pension records.
In April 1843 Esther is living in Jerico, Chittenden County, Vermont where she filed for her husband's pension.
In 1850, Esther and her daughter Tamsy are living with her son Jonas and his family in Bolton, Chittenden County, Vermont.
Esther lived in Chittenden County in 1851 and received a widow's pension of $80.00 per year and then she and several of her children moved to McHenry County, Illinois where she died in 1855.
Esther and Roger's sons gradually moved west. Artimus and Henry went to Ohio, Jonas and Joel settled in McHenry County. The mother and daughter Tamsey joined the sons in Illinois.
In May 1855 she applied for the Bounty Land in Chemung, McHenry County. She was entitled to this land under the U. S. Act of March 3rd, 1855, giving government land to Revolutionary War widows but she did not live to enjoy this land very long as five months later on 28 October 1855 Esther Snow Stevens died.
