His father's naturalization papers state he was born May 5, 1908. His SSDI gives January 24, 1908. The last European residence of his parents was Ostrolenka.Immigration
He arrived with his mother on the SS Zeeland. She was 24; he was 1-1/2 years old. He was erroneously listed as a daughter. They were headed for her husband in Cleveland. Her closest relative left in Europe was her father, Ruben, in Lomza. Their fare was paid by her husband and she did not have $50. They were detained (probably because she did not have any money), held for two meals (half a day) and then released to her husband.Census

He has two entries in the 1940 census. In the first he was a boarder living in Defiance, Ohio. Dave Ginsberg was also a boarder. Ben was an auto wrecker in a wrecking yard earning $325 per year.His second entry is in Cleveland Heights at 2651 Hampshire Road. He was renting ($40/mon) with his wife, son, and mother-in-law. They both had finished 4 years of high school. He was the proprietor of a scrap yard and she was a saleslady at a department store earning $400 per year.

The following obit appeared in the May 11, 1970, Cleveland Press:"Ben Kaminsky, dearly beloved husband of Doris, devoted father of Elliott, Miss Elaine Kaminsky and Sheldon, dear brother Of Sol, Mrs. Esther Ginsberg, Mrs. Rose Solanche, Mrs. Edna Kutler and dear grandfather of four. Services at Berkowitz Kumin Inc., Memorial Chapel, 985 South Taylor Rd., Cleveland Heights, Monday, May 11th at 12 noon. Interment at Oer Chadosh Anshe Stand Synagogue section of Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the residence, 3085 Washington, Blvd. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Fund."

The following also appeared in the May 15, 1970 Cleveland Jewish News:"BEN KAMINSKY, a retired sales manager for a wholesale dry goods company, died on May 10. Mr. Kaminsky, 62, was a member of Oer Chodosh Anshe
Sfard, B'nai B'rith, and Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, Doris (nee Ross); two sons, Sheldon and Elliott; a daughter, Elaine; four grandchildren;
three sisters, and a brother. The family are at the residence, 3085 Washington Blvd."
