He has two entries in the 1940 census. In the first he was a boarder living in Defiance, Ohio. Dave Ginsberg was also a boarder. Ben was an auto wrecker in a wrecking yard earning $325 per year.His second entry is in Cleveland Heights at 2651 Hampshire Road. He was renting ($40/mon) with his wife, son, and mother-in-law. They both had finished 4 years of high school. He was the proprietor of a scrap yard and she was a saleslady at a department store earning $400 per year.

The following obit appeared in the June 24, 1973, Cleveland Plain Dealer:"Doris Kaminsky, dearly beloved wife of Ben (deceased), devoted mother of Elliott M., Elaine of Chicago, Ill., Sheldon, dear daughter of Mrs. Bertha Rossman and dear grandmother of four, dear sister of Bernard and William Rose (both deceased). Services at Berkowitz-Kumin Inc. Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Rd., Cleveland Hts., Sunday, June 24 at 3 p.m. Interment Warrensville Cemetery. Family will receive friends at residence, 3085 Washington Blvd. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society."

The following obit also appeared in the June 29, 1973, Cleveland Jewish News:"Mrs. DORIS KAMINSKY, 62, died on June 23. She was the widow of Ben Kaminsky, and had lived in Cleveland since 1923, when she came here from her native Russia. Her residence was at 3085 Washington Blvd. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Bertha Rossman; two sons, Elliott M. of Cleveland and Sheldon of Florida; and a daughter, Elaine, of Chicago. Her two brothers are deceased. She was the grandmother of four. Mrs. Kaminsky was a member of Bikur Cholim, the Oer Chodosh Sisterhood, and the Cleveland Friendship Club."
