Case number 13695, probate of Solomon HoltHeirs signing their consent to the proof of the will were widow Mary C. Holt and Joshua, Mary, Nathan, Phebe C., Abiathar, and Stephen Holt. Solomon Holt was executor of the will.
In his will written 24 Feb 1830, Solomon Holt bequeaths to beloved wife Mary the use and improvement of one-third part of the homestead farm in Andover and several provisions for her support. Son Solomon is to furnish his mother with a horse and chaise. Sons Solomon and Nathan each receive $450. Son Abiathar receives his support including board and tuition to prosecute his studies "till he is fitted to enter college" and his executor is to furnish this support to Abiathar out of the estate. When he enters college, Abiathar will receive $450, and if he does not enter college he will receive that amount when he is age twenty-one. Son Stephen will also receive $450 at age twenty-one, and until that time he is to labor on the farm for son Solomon, and Solomon will provide his support. Daughters Mary and Phebe C. each receive $200 and the improvements on the northeast chamber as long as they remain single. Mary and Phebe each receive a seat in the pew at the west parish meeting house. His wearing apparel is to be divided among his five sons, the books are to be equally divided among all the children, and his military equipment goes to Solomon. The remainder of the estate goes to Solomon who is also named executor.
