Notes
Birth
Herman's mother, Caroline, was pregnant when the family left Germany and Herman was born on the ship Bremen just days before arriving in America. Caroline and Herman were allowed to stay on the ship for a few days while the cargo was unloadedMarriage
Herman had purchased land south of Stanton in 1889, which he and Minnie farmed until 1919, when they leased the land to their two sons and retired to Clarkson.Endnotes
