Sgt. Donald Lomnes Weds Mary Wallen
The Presbyterian Church of Anchorage, Alaska, on Monday evening, January 8, was the scene of the wedding that united Miss Mary Wallen and Sgt. Donald E. Lomnes, USA. The Candle-light wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. Rolland Armstrong.
The bride, wearing a white satin wedding gown with shoulder length veil, was attended by Vernita Mae Henning, who wore a dress of blue net. The best man was Lieut. Raymond L. Steinker of the Railway Operating Battalion, of which the groom is also a member.
Following the wedding, a reception was held in the parlors of the church at which Mrs. Cora McCarreu and Mrs. Ebba Montgomery presided. The three tiered wedding cake, topped by a large white wedding bell, was baked at the G.I. bakery.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Anna Wallen Newby of Cassville, Missouri and Sgt. Lomnes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville E. Lomnes of Hudson.

Donald Edward Lomnes, 72, a former Hudson resident, died Friday, April 14, at his home in Sun City, Ariz.
A memorial service was Tuesdy, April 18, at the Grace Bible Church in Sun City, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Warren officiating. Burial was in Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City.
He was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Forbes, N.D., the son of Orville E. and Genevieve (Chinnock) Lomnes, and spent his growing-up years in Hudson.
He graduated from Hudson High School in 1940 and for a time was employed at the Omaha Railroad Shops in North Hudson.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army with the 714th Railway Operating Battalion as a supply clerk.
He was married in Anchorage, Alaska, Jan. 8, 1945, to Mary Wallen.
After the war he worked in the field of accounting and was a cost accountant for the 3M Company. In the 1960s he and his family lived in Paris, France, where he was a representative of 3M.
In Sun City, where he lived for 11 years, he was a member of the American Diabetes Association and Grace Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Sun City; a daughter, Anna Lee Speer of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
His brother, Thomas O. Lomnes, of Hudson, died in 1989.
