Genevieve Lomnes, 85, of 1015 Second St., died Sunday, Sept. 24, at Hudson Memorial Hospital which she had entered that day.
She was born in River Falls, Jan. 7, 1904, the daughter of Fred and Edna (Pace) Chinnock, and attended school in River Falls.
On Dec. 2, 1921, she was married to Orville E. Lomnes in Ellendale, N.D. They lived in St. Paul for four years and moved in 1924 to Hudson, which remained their home the rest of their lives.
While in Hudson, Mrs. Lomnes was active in the Presbyterian church, Order of Eastern Star, Hudson Woman's Club, Philathea Class, St. Croix County Historical Society, American Legion Auxiliry and the now disbanded Priscilla Club of First Presbyterian Church, of which she was one of the last surviving members.
Visitation was Wednesdy, Sept. 27, from 5-8 p.m. at O'Connell's Valley Funeral Home.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursdy, Sept. 28, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Crow officiating, Myrtle Fegely as organist and Sally Halvorson, vocal soloist.
Survivors includes a son, Donald E. Lomnes of Prescott, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Claire Guise and Mrs. Letha Foster, both of River Falls, and Mrs. Everett (Betty) Gallagher of Janesville. A daughter-in-law is Mrs. Thomas (Dawn) Lomnes of Hudson. There re six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband Orville in 1959 and son, Thomas O. Lomnes, in 1987.
Privte interment will be in the family lot in Willow River Cemetery, with Roy Chinnock, Stuart Gilbertson, David Guise, David Kvrnes, Kenneth Michaelson and Howard Hovland as active pallbearers and Alan Larson, honorary pallbearer.
