Married--At Stillwater, Saturday, Feb. 26, Miss Ruby Benoy and Mr. E. [A.] Hughes. Miss Ruby was a Senior in the High School, a bright, promising young lady, who has made many friends in the village, during her school years. The groom is an industrious young farmer who with his bride has the best wishes of the community for their future welfare. They have taken up their residence on the Sidney Benoy farm for the present.

Al Hughes, 77, Roberts Civic Leader, Dies
Almon J. "Al" Hughes of Roberts died Sunday, April 28 at City Hospital in River Falls after an extended illness. He was 77.
The son of James and Caroline (Partch) Hughes, he was born on September 6, 1896 at Waterford, Minnesota.
On February 26, 1916 he was united in marriage to Ruby Benoy in Stillwater. For four years they lived at Holcombe, six years in St. Paul and 47 years in Roberts.
For nine years he was associated with Consolidated Lumber company at Roberts and five years with Integrity Sales in Roberts until his retirement in 1972.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Roberts, Wauntee IOOF Lodge No. 119 of Roberts, Silber Encampment, No. 46 of Hudson, Roberts Lions Club, and St. Croix Lodge No. 56 F & A.M. of Hudson. He was past district deputy grand master and past president of the International Order of Odd Fellows, past nobel grand of Wauntee IOOF Lodge of Roberts and former presient of the Village of Roberts.
He is survived by his wife Ruby and four children: Oliver W., St. Paul; Wendell B. "Jiggs", Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Robert M. (Maxine) Baier, Carnegie, Penn.; Ms. Marcella J. Hughes, Madison; one brother, Charles W., St. Paul; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Leslie in 1934, a sister, Mrs. John (Altie) Germain and four brothers, Eldon, Miles, Lee and Ernest Hughes.
Memorial services were conducted by Wauntee IOOF Lodge No. 119 of Roberts Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 1, at the United Church of Christ in Roberts with Rev. Carl Jensen officiating. Brothers-in-laws who served as casketbearers were Marvin Benoy, Las Cruses, New Mexico, Arthur Benoy, Wisconsin Rapids, Leon Benoy, New Richmond, Clinton Benoy, Kenneth Benoy, Richard Benoy and Alton "Bill" Benoy of Hudson.
