Mrs. Fred Burton, 65, a resident of Burkhardt, died at the Hudson Hospital at 3:10 p.m., Thursday, September 22nd. Her death was caused by a malignant ailment.
She as born at Glenville, Minnesota, November 11, 1883, the daughter of Fred and Sarah Jane Leigh. Myrtle Pearl Leigh was married to Fred E. Burton on December 31, 1906 at Gull Lake, Sask., Canada, residing in Canada until 1925. The family moved to Frederic Town, Ohio, and then to the vicinity of Burkhardt, where they have lived ever since. She was a most devoted and unselfish mother.
She is survived by her husband and eight children: Kenneth of Bass Lake; Nena (Mrs. Karl Hoeprich) of Denver CO; Vivian (Mrs. John Smith) of Burkhardt; Evelyn (Mrs. Cecil Lucas) of Choiceland, Sask., Canada; Grant of Burkhardt; Wynona Pearl (Mrs. Robert Torgerson) of Hudson; Donald of Vancouver, Canada; and Theodore of Burkhardt, Wis. She is also survived by four sisters: Ida (Mrs. Fred Frye) of Lake Crystal, Minn.; Della (Mrs. C. C. Burton) of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; Agnes (Mrs. W. Workman) of Vancouver, Canada; Jessie (Mrs. Robert Lucas) of Choiceland, Canada; five brothers: Oden leigh of Viscount, Canada; Herbert of Plunkett, Canada; John of Saskatoon, Canada; George and Fred also of Choiceland, Canada; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral serivces were held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the Jasper Funeral Home, Dr. E. F. Seelizer of Minneapolis officiating. During the services Wm. Nelson sang two songs, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and the "Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. Harold Walbrandt at the organ. The pallbearers were Kenneth Burton, Theodore Burton, Grant Burton, Frank Fry, Edward Fry, Fred Fry. Burial as in Willow River Cemetery.
