Marriage of Robert Friend, Jr. Announced
Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Robert Friend, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Friend of this city, to Miss Bernice Leagh of Berlin, Wis. The wedding took place on Saturday, July 29, at the Marquette University Chapel, Milwaukee. The couple will make their home in Milwaukee at 249 18th street, where Mr. Friend is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Friend have the felicitations of their many friends.

Robert Friend, 52, Former Hudsonite, Dies in Kankakee
Funeral services for Robert E. Friend, 52, a former Hudsonite, were Monday at St. Teresa's church in Kankakee, Ill.
Friend, who had been a resident of Kankakee for the past 10 years, died at 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20 in St. Mary's hospital following a prolonged illness.
At the time of his death he was assistant general manager of the Permagies Division of the A.O. Smith Corporation.
Friend would have completed 30 years with the A.O. Smith Corp., in October. He was an industrial engineer with the firm in Milwaukee before coming to Kankakee.
He was born in Hudson, Aug. 18, 1905, and was graduated from Hudson high school in 1923.
Friend was a graduate of Marquette University and of the advanced management course of Harvard University business school.
He and his wife, Bernice were married June 29, 1929 in the Marquette University chapel, Milwaukee.
Surviving besides his widow, are a son, James: a daughter, Maryanne; his mother, Mrs. Anna Friend [stepmother] of Hudson, and a sister, Frances (Mrs. Raymond Thome) of Hudson. Mrs. Throme attended the funeral services in Kankakee.
