Haney Gets Broken Leg, Rib, Dislocated Ankle From Rampaging Cow

Alfred Haney suffered a broken leg, a cracked rib, and a dislocated ankle last
Wednesday morning when a cow went on a rampage after he and George Lervick had
inoculated the animal.

Haney was helping Lervick at the Lervick ranch, treat this sick cow, according
to Mrs. Haney. After the inoculation the cow took after Haney breaking his
left leg, the rib, and injuring the left ankle. His injuries may have been
more serious had not Lervick attracted the maddened cow's attention.

Alfred was brought into Jordan Wednesday morning to have the leg set and getpatched up. He's resting at the Haney home in Jordan.

Graveside Services are Held for Alfred Haney

Graveside services were held at the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan on Monday, Feb.
18 for Alfred Edgar Haney, 82, who passed away at the Garfield County Hospital
on Thursday, Feb. 14. The Rev. A.E. Arney officiated and music was provided by
Bonnie McClain and the Rev. and Mrs. Johann Rockstad.
Haney was born April 25, 1902 at Hyannis, Nebraska, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank B. Haney.

He moved to Jordan with his parents and sister Nellie in 1910 and they
homesteaded on Snow Creek.

He married Agnes May Jones on Sept. 12, 1921 and at the time of his death he
and his wife had been married the longest of anyone presently residing in
Garfield county. They exchanged vows at the Presbyterian church in Miles City.

Eight children were born of that marriage. Two children preceded him in death;
Richard as a young man and Helen, an infant.

Haney enjoyed an abiding love of his family and nature and was an avid hunter,
trapper and fisherman. He was a longtime NRA member.

He was caretaker of the Hell Creek Recreation Area for several years.

He raised his family and ranched on Snow Creek until he sold the ranch in the
early 1950's and moved to the Bitteroot for five years before returning to
Jordan where they lived in retirement.

Survivors are his wife May, now residing at Eagles Manor in Miles City; two
sons, Frank Edgar of Miles City and Alfred Edward of Sacremento, CA; four
daughters, Kathryn Huston of Brusett, Gertrude Shelton of Talent, Oregon,
Barbara Best of Billings, and Patsy Turnipseed of Buffalo, Wyo. Also surviving
are eleven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Monday's services were Phillip Murnion, J. Bernard
