Leila attended grade school at Brusett and high school in Jordan, class of 1946. She worked for the Farmers Home Administration in Jordan as a civil service clerk-typist, then for a flying service in Great Falls, Montana. She took pilot training right after high school but didn't try for her license.
Hobbies include bowling and painting.
She has brothers and sisters: J.E. Stanton, married to Eleen Hawkinson; Bill Stanton; and Clara Stanton Patton.

Leila "Lee" Rose Hawkinson
Leila "Lee" Rose Hawkinson, 76, of Miles City died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Born June 17, 1927 in Brusett, she was the daughter of Ebert Stanton and Grace Gallinger Stanton Currey. She attended schools in Brusett and Jordan.
Mrs. Hawkinson went to work for the Soil Conservation Service in Jordan. She then obtained her pilot's license at a early age.
On Feb. 15, 1950, she and Woodrow Hawkinson were married in Cody, Wyo. They lived in Circle, Montana where they owned and operated Stockman Bar and later purchased Hagenston Hardware, which they later named Hawkinson Hardware. In 1975, she moved to Miles City where she owned the Log Cabin Bar, then managed the American Legion in Terry. She later purchased part interest in the Trails Inn Bar. She later opened Lee's Saloon and helped start league pool in Miles City and Billings.
In 1995, she retired and has lived in Miles City since.
She enjoyed playing pool, cards and cribbage and was a good artist. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, she also belonged to the Tavern Association.
Her survivors include three sons, Terry Hawkinson, and his wife, Ilene, of Conrad, Montana; John Hawkinson, and his wife, Karen, of Miles City, Montana; and Chuck Hawkinson, and his wife, Vivian, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a daughter, Gina Zerr, and her husband, Dale, of Roundup, Montana; ; two brothers, J.E. Stanton, and his wife, Eleen, of Miles City, Montana and Bill Stanton of Billings, Montana; a sister, Clara Patton, and her husband, Jack, of Dimmitt, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of her life will be held Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date in the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Miles City.
