Dear Jerry, I have found no evidence for John Tant marrying Margaret Bloomfield. I do believe Sr. Donnelly is correct in John Tant marrying Margaret Drury. I do believe this must have been a second marriage for him. Robert Drury's transfer of property to John Tant (presumably Margaret Drury's dowery) is in 1683, while John Tant administers the estate of Henry Neale, Jr (half-brother of Mary Tattershall) for his son James Tant and his wife Mary Tattershall (James must have been under 18 years of age) in 1685. Mary, the daughter of William Tattershall and his wife Ann Lewgar (she later married Henry Neale, Sr.), was probably born about 1670, as her father died in 1671, I think. James would probably be about the same age, i.e. about 15 or 16 in 1685.

Land Office (Rent Rolls) 7, pp. 35a and 35b "100 acres Dry Dockings Sur:20:Aug:1672 for Robert Drury on ye Bra: of St Lawrence Cr: near Brittain Bay. Possr: James Tant."
Apparently "DRY DOCKING" came into possession of John TANT at least by 1685 when John TANT gave it to his son, James TANT, at the time of James TANT'S marriage to Mary TATTERSHALL. This gift was confirmed by John TANT'S will.
"Maryland State Archives, Prerogative Court, Volume 11, pages 274-276
Item I Give and bequeath to my loveing Son James Taint one horse called Jumper and likewise what land he had of me in marriage Called Dry Drackill to him and his heires for Ever likewise one cask of Syder about Eighty Gallons"
James TANT died in 1717 and in his will, left this tract of land to his son, Mathew TANT.
"Prerogative Court (Wills) 14, pp. 444-445 JAMES TANT, 1717 (MSA S538-22, mDhr 1292-2, Maryland Archives
Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Mathew Tant one hundred acres of Land called Dry docking lying in the forrest of Brittains bay at the head of a run called St Lawrences run to him and his heirs for Ever"
Mathew TANT apparently died young and this tract of land then came into possession of James TANT'S daughter, Ann TANT. Ann TANT married 1) George MEDLEY and 2) William WILLIAMS, son of Jacob WILLIAMS and Elizabeth VANSWERINGEN. William WILLIAMS was in possession of "DRY DOCKING" at least from 1753 through 1766.
"Land Office, Debt Books, St Mary's County, William Williams Maryland State Archives, Hall Of Records, Annapolis, Maryland 1753 William Williams Dry Docking, 100 Acres, Rent 0.2.0"
In 1768 "DRY DOCKING" was no longer listed under William WILLIAM'S name.

John Tant d. abt 1702. He married Margaret Bloomfield who was b. bef 1665 and d. abt 1725/1726.
The story goes that John was born John Dant but had his name changed to Tant when another John Dant, brother of Thomas, tried to otherthrow Lord Baltimore. It would not have been practical for John to have the same name of someone that may be considered a traitor.
